Welcome to the twenty-first installment of This Black-Ass Life! This week, we get into the danger Sunkist Satan poses to Black-ass immigrants. Black-ass immigrants face greater risk of deportation and now Cantaloupe Conman is threatening to strip citizenship from naturalized Americans. We also get into y’all’s fave Michael Bae Jordan and cried through the Whitney documentary.

I. The Facts
Last month, US Citizenship and Immigration Services announced the Trump Administration is launching a taskforce to identify people who’d gotten citizenship under fraudulent means.
According to the Administration, they are only looking to target the few thousands who are suspected of using fake identities to get green cards and citizenships through naturalization.
They lyin’! Immigrant advocates are raising alarm that this is part of their plan to make this country inhospitable to all non-White native-born people.
This is also terrible policy because there are so many reasons why immigrants might be listed under multiple names (*cough cough* Jumoke/Olajumoke), Latin American cultures often dictates that individuals have more than one last name, and with the mountain of paperwork that it takes to become a citizen of this country, many immigrants have made clerical errors that could now put them in danger of denaturalization.
Why is this important?
While there has been much written about the Trump's Administration attack on undocumented immigrants, much less has been written about their concerted effort to reduce legal immigration to the U.S.
If the Trump Administration is to be believed, America is under attack by super violent immigrants who continuously cause harm to native-born people. This is so far from the truth.
Immigrants do not have to prove their value, but they are in fact less likely to commit crimes than people born in the United States. If they are from Sub-Saharan Africa, they are also better educated than most Americans, and they use fewer public benefits like Medicaid and cash assistance than native-born Americans. Please note we are not saying using these benefits is bad, we are saying that immigrants are not sucking up resources as the Cheeto-in-Chief claims.
Denaturalization is a nativist policy that exists for the sole purpose of fucking with immigrants and taking away their rights, including their right to vote.
As author Masha Gessen said in the New Yorker, “The creation of the task force itself is undoing the naturalization of the more than twenty million naturalized citizens in the American population by taking away their assumption of permanence … All of us — are second-class citizens now.”

The Whitney Houston movie will make you sob, but you should still watch
We saw the Whitney Houston documentary (with our friend Binty!) and it is so sad because her family sucked up all her money, kept her in the closet and helped to facilitate her addictions. We also sobbed our entire heart out for Bobbi Kristina. ALSO, shame on Al Sharpton and the booing crowd at the 1989 Soul Train Awards where she met Bobby.
