Yelling at Black-Ass Women

Welcome to the 93rd installment of This Black-Ass Life! There’s lots of people acting up at Black women this week (and always), and we would like y’all to please stop! So read on as we yell back or if that’s too much energy for a Monday morning, we gathered adorable Black-ass babies in Other Things.
Don’t forget: We've managed to grow this list thanks to y'all forwarding to friends so please keep it up! Forward this link to subscribe to five friends. And send us topics you'd like to see covered, texts from your Black-ass people and any Black-ass anything from around the world and web.
I. The Facts
Sometimes we research extensively for the newsletter, and sometimes we just google “yelling at Black women '' and get several pages of reported incidents of Black women getting harassed:
White man charged for threatening to shoot a Black woman with an AK-47.
White woman yelling at her Black neighbor because “she’s not the right color.”
White woman arrested for calling a Black Burger employee a stupid Black bitch because her tomato slice was too thick.
Amazon keeps getting sued for shitting on Black women because they keep shitting on Black women.
Oh look, known abuser Joe Budden harassed his former colleague.
Wealth, education and/or celebrity also does not protect Black women from constant harassment:
UNC is a bad place. It’s especially bad because Nikole Hannah-Jones, a MACARTHUR GENIUS, NATIONAL MAGAZINE AWARD winner and PULITZER PRIZE winner, did not qualify for tenure.
Imagine getting so worked up over iCarly that you virulently and violently harass Laci Mosley for … existing there?
This doesn’t really apply and isn’t at the same gravity of the incidents listed above but:
A$AP Rocky doesn't deserve Rihanna.
Why does it matter?
We know you know, but it bears repeating that there is a direct through line from feeling comfortable yelling at Black women for anything to the disproportionate rates of violence Black women experience across areas of life.
Black women are more likely than any other women to experience physical violence from a partner, sexual violence, name-calling and psychological abuse and murder at the hands of a man.
According to a recent Gallup poll, Black women are the least likely to feel valued, treated with respect, or treated fairly at work.
They are also the least likely to believe their organization is fair to everyone, that they have the same opportunities for advancement and that they don’t believe their employer would do the right thing if they raised a concern about ethics and integrity.
Among U.S. workers, Black women are the least likely to be classified as having “thriving wellbeing.”
Black women are far more likely than other women to be killed by police.
Black girls are “arguably the most at-risk student group” in the U.S. due to disproportionate punishment and push-out.
What can my Black ass do?
Leave Black-ass women alone.
Seriously.
Let us be.

Our Black-Ass song(s) of the week (Jumoke):
Sittin’ Up In My Room feels very right for the moment just before Roaring Twenties Summer really begins.
Things we are looking forward to / things we are not looking forward to:
I (Jumoke) look forward to early morning walks since we are already in 90 degree weather?!
I (Mitu) look forward to the reinstatement of my ultimate auntie status while I spend time with my nieces for the first time since the panettone.
lll. A question from a Black-Ass Parent
My (Jumoke’s) sister made very delicious focaccia the week after we were all home together and had the nerve to then post said focaccia in the family group chat. My dad rightly had questions.
